Scavenger Hunts


Scavenger hunts can be used in the classroom for many reasons. They appeal not only to helping students learn a subject matter but also let students become better researchers. Internet scavenger hunts help students to learn problem solving and improve reading and comprehension skills. A scavenger hunt can be fun to students which keeps them interested and they can be very informative. Students can learn about any subject matter doing a scavenger hunt. They can be tailored to fit the needs of students. Scavenger hunts can range from whole class to individual work. Overall, they help students to learn new information while doing so in a fun and creative format.

For this assignment, I will be doing a Type A scavenger hunt, because this will be directed towards older students. There will be a list of questions for students to answer and they must use search engines to find the answers.

Directions for Students:
Use the internet to answer each question below. Record your answers in Word, then print them to turn it in. List the search engine used, search terms, the URL where you found the answer, and your response. Make sure the source you are using is reliable.

Grading Information:
For each answer you write on search engine used, search terms, and URL you will receive one point. For each correct response you will receive two points. If the answer is correct, but not written in a complete sentence you will receive one point. There are 50 points in total. Your grade will be calculated by dividing the points you earned by the total number of points.
